How do I move my subscriptions from another app?
Export an OPML file from your old app. In Pocket Casts it’s under Profile → Settings → Import & Export; in Overcast, Settings → Export OPML; in Castro, Settings → User Data; in AntennaPod, Settings → Import/Export.
Then open the file in Longwave: share it to Longwave, or go to Settings → Subscriptions → Import and choose the file or paste a link to it. Shows you already follow are skipped.
Can I import from Apple Podcasts or Spotify?
Not yet. Neither app lets you export your subscriptions, so shows from them need to be added from Search in Longwave.
How do I add a private or supporter feed?
Copy the private RSS link from the show’s membership page (Patreon, Supercast, Substack and others provide one), then paste it into Search in Longwave and tap Subscribe. Private feeds stay on your phone.
A private feed stopped working. What do I do?
Private links sometimes expire or change. Open the show in Longwave and tap Update feed URL, then paste the new link from the show’s membership page. Your played episodes and progress are kept.
How does the sleep timer work?
Tap the moon in the player and choose a time, or End of episode. In the last thirty seconds the sound fades out, then playback pauses. Shake your phone while it’s fading to add the same amount of time again.
Do my headphone controls work?
Yes. Play, pause and skip forward and back work from the lock screen, Control Center, the Android notification and most Bluetooth earbuds. Skip lengths follow your Skip back and Skip forward settings.
Why did a different episode start when mine finished?
When an episode ends, Longwave plays the next unplayed episode in the list you started from, in the order you see it. Episodes you’ve already played are skipped. To stop this, turn off Autoplay in Settings → Playback.
When is an episode marked as played?
When it finishes, or once you’ve listened to 97% of it. You can mark any episode played or unplayed by hand, and an episode you mark unplayed stays that way.
How do I save space on my phone?
In Settings → Downloads, turn on Remove after finishing so played episodes delete themselves, and choose how many new episodes each show downloads automatically. You can see and delete downloads from the Library.
How do I delete my data?
Longwave has no account, and everything is stored on your phone, so deleting the app deletes your data. See the privacy policy for details.
